How to Record Video Tutorials Free.
This is just a quick post to mention a great little piece of free software which is available to those who need an alternative to downloading tutorials etc. and how to record video tutorials free.
Since the advent of online affiliate marketing and fast internet connections, particularly those with unlimited data transfer became available a few years ago, places like Utube and social media sites like Twitter etc. have become a haven for those who are either looking for short videos or need somewhere to expose a video to the world.
Internet Marketers have jumped on these sites as a means to expose their product to the world for free and have experienced great success in doing so. However, while these methods are great for both the video maker and the “hungry for knowledge internet marketing newbie”……. they are only great if the user has an unlimited data transfer or a very cheap Internet Service Provider. Quite often video tutorial don’t allow for downloading or provide a method to record video tutorials free of charge.
While many tutorial sites do provide such videos free of charge, more often than not, the videos can’t be downloaded to a hard drive meaning that in order to watch them over and over which is often necessary, the need to do so means either leaving the tab open which is also impractical in many cases, or re-loading from the net every time the video is required.
For me and many other folk out there, the above options are not available because I live in a region of Australia where the only 2 forms of internet connections available are dial up and satellite.
Obviously as an internet marketer, the former would make it impossible to operate and the latter being limited to a pre-determined amount of monthly data transfer, makes it impractical to be streaming or watching tutorial videos as they load because it obviously gobbles up the data transfer limit pretty quickly.
Of course there are many reasons why people would like to copy or record these videos. To be able to watch them offline of course, immediately springs to mind but unless they can be downloaded and saved, that’s impossible….or is it?
Recently I came across a piece of software which allows the user to record a video while watching it and then save it to a place of choice on their hard drive. While it does require the sacrifice of disc space, this is reduced somewhat by the audio within the video being automatically compressed so as to save space.
A hint in using it is to start the video and “pause it” and then let it run for the first few minutes before taking it back to beginning before hitting the record button. In that way if you are on a slow connection or if it’s streaming, you won’t get any breaks or pauses in the video which will use more of your disc space.

Hey Sean,
So you have a choice of either dial up (not really very practical at all for an Internet Marketer) or Satellite (but with a monthly data transfer limit)?
Well we all face different challenges when we’re starting out on our internet marketing journeys so congratulations to you for finding an excellent solution to your particular problem of watching/re-watching tutorial videos!!
You found a potential road block but instead of quitting and letting it get the better of you, you just burst through it so great job mate!…with that attitude you’re already one step ahead of most!
Your particular solution is not one I have used before and though I have Camtasia I will definitely be investigating further.
Speak soon,
Rob
Hi Rob.
Thanks for the comment and the encouragement.
Coming from a lower to working class environment as kids, resourcefulness was a natural part of our education. Without which, we would have been severely lacking in many of the material things that kids on the higher echelon of society took for granted.
I guess that once imbeded within a personality, being resourceful sticks forever and I’m not complaining. It’s aided me many times throughout my life And hopefully will continue to do so! Just ask McIver.:-)
